Today, we live in a global community marked by extreme inequality. Authority and resources are increasingly centralized than in modern history. This encourages the powerful to leverage their position against the disadvantaged because they act with a sense of above the law.

The fortunes of a small group of ultra-wealthy individuals is difficult to fathom. The power of big tech, big oil, and large defense contractors covers a vast portion of the world. AI is could centralize economic and political clout to a greater degree. The destructive power of the world's largest nations is unmatched in recorded history.

Supported by a compliant faction and an accommodating judicial body, the highest office has been turned into the supreme and answerable-to-none agent of the state in history.

Combine these factors and you grasp the danger.

A clear connection connects previous transgressions to current provocations. Each were based on the arrogance of invincibility.

One observes parallel dynamics in other global contexts: in territorial invasions, in strategic threats, and in the global depredation by industrial titans.

Yet, strength without restraint does not create right. It fosters fragility, upended order, and armed conflict.

History shows that rules and conventions to check the powerful also shield them. If these guardrails are removed, their relentless pursuit for more power and wealth in time lead to their downfall – taking down their enterprises, countries, or domains. And threaten global conflict.

This blatant disregard for rules will plague the nation and the world – and the very idea of civilized conduct – for years to come.
