Spurs Manager Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'
The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on Frank
Spurs supporters who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they can't be real Spurs fans" by boss Frank.
Tottenham let in two goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th top-flight home defeat of the year.
However the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' next goal when the keeper gave away possession well beyond his area.
The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and carried the ball near the sideline.
However, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by King.
King passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the touchline measured at 36.6 yards.
Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario once more, some Spurs supporters jeered him.
Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.
A particular of those jeering sessions truly irritated the manager.
"It came to my attention some of our fans apparently booed the incident and jeered after, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Dane commented regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.
"Those individuals can't be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other going forward."
Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage prior to Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second period showing.
Former top-flight keeper Hart stated that the second score was "totally avoidable".
"I do appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role Vicario is playing. He is a excellent team player, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily involved in what turned out to be the winning goal."
'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italian national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said after the game that he had to accept the criticism.
"That score was a mistake of mine, I take responsibility for that," he said.
"My aim was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult challenge to climb."
He stated being booed "comes with the game".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It is on us to remain increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are missing in calmness and poise to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor loss and it is tough to accept."
'It Shocked Me Nobody Went Back to the Goal Line'
In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League score of the season – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too occurred on Saturday.
Wilson said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open net to target.
Ten moments elapsed between the keeper exiting of his box and Wilson striking – which was five seconds following the clearance.
"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the area for ages," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them covered the net, my interest sparked somewhat.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which gave me a bit of additional opportunity. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct connection and place it towards goal. I had a positive sense, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Go Against You'
Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager
While the keeper's error dominated coverage, this was an overall bad day for Spurs to extend their home struggles.
This was their tenth home loss of the year in the league, a joint club statistic matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
The side still have home games against Frank's former club Brentford and title holders Liverpool to come prior to the close of the season.
Only one of those victories have come since Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.
"When you're in a poor run, all aspects seems to go against you too – the opening was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic.
"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost another game. Every game has a single story, today we lost in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and with luck something we can utilize to learn."
Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.
And they are averaging nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their lowest averages on file in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).
Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He must take the stick," Murphy said. "He's accepted a high profile job at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.
"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
