Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
