19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He saved four early break points in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
