Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
